Interconnection Engineer

Genie Solar Energy (GSE) is looking for a Interconnection Engineer to join our Development team. In this position you will act as the primary interface between the internal project development team and the utilities.  Reporting to the Director or Project Development, he/she will be responsible for supporting the companies C&I and DG projects – from 50kW to 10 MW. The candidate MUST have experience in solar interconnections. This candidate must be willing to roll up his/her sleeves and assist where needed as the business expands. This is a remote based position.

Responsibilities:

• Strong knowledge of interconnection standards and regulations, including IEEE 1547, UL1741, and NEC 690.
• Manage and coordinate the interconnection process from initial project development through to commissioning.
• Must be able to explain complex technical information in a clear and concise manner, collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders, and negotiate interconnection agreements with utility companies.
• Able to review single line diagrams to identify errors or inconsistencies, and ensure accuracy and completeness of project plans

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelors of Science in Engineering or similar
• Located within the Northeast
• 3+ years of experience in solar industry
• Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
• Strong communicator
• Strategic planner – you are very well-organized, follow processes efficiently, and keep a close watch on all the pieces of your work and how they fit together
• Adaptive learner – you gain facility with new topics, tools, and processes quickly
• Self-starter – comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
